the LAB ScienTEAs : Learning the Boba chemistry!

It is nothing new if I tell you that there is another bubble tea tenant in Pantai Indah Kapuk. From all the bubble tea tenants lining through out the whole PIK area, the LAB has been one of the tenants that emerged with a one-of-a-kind concept and literally sticks to it. From the interior to the uniform of the staffs, you can easily find yourself in a scientific industrial atmosphere where your bubble tea is formulated by a "ScienTEAs" (not a scientist though).

Enter the 1st Floor...

The lab coats worn by the staffs. The blue surgeon uniform underneath the coat is only worn by the "scienTEAs" who are responsible in formulating the drinks inside their little mixing lab.

As you can see from the pictures above, they really pay attention to the little details. They are able to design the whole area with real scientific appliances and managed to remain attractive (pardon my prejudice to the subject of chemistry or science, it's personal).

Enter the 2nd Floor...

Cute and smart on how they designed a cup holder for each chair..
Loyal customers..
A slight warning on the hazardous chemicals
Those are real test tubes on the ceiling..

The second floor is definitely brighter compared to the first floor. Unlike the industrial feel you'll get from down below, this level has more an urban touch to it.. In a way, it's almost cute, but they still managed to attach one or two of a few things to remain true to their concept..

Enter the drinks.. and later the food..

wild berry tea as a welcome drink on a real pyrex test tube.. Nothing alcoholic (relating to the appearance of this drink)
They have various flavors for their poppings. This one was mango flavored. Not too sweet which  I think is perfect.
Trying out their strawberry boba with a lychee yogurt tea.. Even their cups are different from the other normal ones. Trying to imitate a big test tube. You  might not be able to see this, but they have embedded measurements and their brand on each cup.
On the drinks  (20k - 30k) : I usually go with the aloe vera on normal occasions..
My first cup was pomegranate yogurt tea with small boba. I forget to ask for less sugar, so it came out to a what I think of an over sweet drink. I also didn't like the smell of artificial syrup on this drink. The small boba was perfect though..

My second cup was the lychee yogurt with strawberry boba. Well, this one I like. It's a perfect balance between the sour and the sweet. They claimed to be the only bubble tea tenant that has flavorings on their boba. From strawberry to pandan flavors, they give you a variety of choices for alternative preference. I also noticed that their popping has a wider selection of flavors compared to other bubble tea stores.

The hazelnut milk tea was also satisfying. The milk is strong enough to compete with the hint of hazelnut. I like it.. I like it all..! And now I am left perplexed in choosing which one is my favorite.

I have tried their marshmallow milk on previous visit. I love love love it. It was fragrant enough and perfect for a before-to-sleep drink. I just wish they offer the warm version.

FYI, they also serve alcoholic bubble drinks..

Mani Moggo (120k). A sharing plate of japchae, kani salad, butter bap, soondogu kimchi jigae, paseutta jjajang, and tang soo yook. This portion was only for the purpose of the food tasting event.

On the food :
Following the notable trends of K-pop, the LAB has decided to go Korean fusion for their food. On this event, I was given the chance to try out their Mani Moggo set.

The verdict : Even though it's a bit out of place from their concept, they were able to serve decent Korean food. I love how fragrant the japchae was. The chicken itself has thick fried batter with a dry coating of a red sour sauce. The sauce is definitely different from the other Korean chicken I have tasted.
To sum it all up, the set itself offers you with sweet savory flavors brought by the different dishes. It also has different textures from each distinctive items. I really enjoyed the Korean platter.

I have to give credit for the concept of the LAB and their selections of toppings. So far, I found them to be the one who offers you with wider selections of different toppings. I think they got what it takes to compete with the other dozen of bubble tea tenants on PIK. I wish the LAB an abundance of success and great luck on the future. Keep up your "scienTEAfic" work!

RANDOMLY Bumped intooooo

After one day of one whole song filled with push ups at the gym, I woke up with sore arms and a sore chest. So today, I skipped gym and asked Ivan to give me a company instead. What's more guilty than skipping the gym? It is skipping gym and go have heavy dinner instead.. *PWNED*

So anyway, I was planning to try Nobuzen at PIK. But after parking the car, somehow Ivan dragged me to Iga Bakar. I never tried the ribs in that restaurant before.. Lemme just show the pics..

New Menus with discounted price. I told Ivan to order one.. LOL.. *a true asian*

Waiting patiently for the food..

Surprised at the size of the double ribs I ordered. This one is Iga Bakar Pedas.. They said this one is the favorite dish.. But boo, the sambal isn't that spicy and somehow, I keep catching this smell of sambal being refrigerated for days while eating the ribs. It was just an Okay Dish.. It's basically cow ribs, grilled with sweet soy sauce..

The whole meal

This dish is definitely the highlight of the meal. It's a new menu called Iga sambal dabu dabu.. YUMMIEH.. As we know it, Sambal Dabu Dabu is from Manado.. Who knew it would taste so YUMMIEH on top of ribs!?
The sambal dabu dabu is made out of shallots, lots of little cuts of chillis, cherry tomatoes, basil with a splash of lime. It's savory, spicy, sour, all combined in perfect harmony. This is definitely the winning traditional dish with a twist!!

Cah Mix. You can mix all the veggies.. We ordered veggies for the sake of being healthy *sigh at cholesterol*

The Hungry Master still trying to eat the bones due to insufficient amount of food

I can make X man sign with the bones!!

It's longer than my face

Not satisfied yet, we walked down the street trying to find a place for dessert.. We were just walking randomly, when out of the blue, *SPOTTED* Hanny, Bowo and Tifanny was sitting in bobabits..

She was quite taken aback seeing us randomly walking towards her. With no shame, Ivan and I joined them and stayed there..

It turned out, the drink that Ivan ordered yesterday was Caramel Apple Milk Tea.. and I confidently said that it was a cheesecake milk tea.. Not sure how I got mixed up with the whole thing..

Hanny and Tiffany, enjoying their drinks

Epic picture with bubble ornaments..

I ordered Strawberry Milk Tea but the hot one instead of a cold one..

At last, I get to try the bubble/big boba.. Ivan wanna order the small boba, but we're still too late! It's finished!

Chicken Popcorn which Hanny kept ordering. It tastes like chicken nuggets

Group picture 1, not sure what Bowo was doing..

At last, a decent photo with straight faces..

Mr. I WANNA EAT ALL and Mrs. I CAN'T EAT THESE ALL (my eyes is very level:chinese)

As the night went by, the place is getting more cramped up. Since today was a weekday, I didn't expect that the place will be this packed.. Bobabits is actually a comfortable place to hang. But if you're sitting outside, it's better to put on some anti-mosquitoes spray on your legs. They actually provide it for you. You just gotta ask the waiter for it..

I rate Iga Bakar's food for 9/10 for the Iga sambal dabu dabu. It was EPIC! It's really my type of food.. For a traditional dish, this one is quite the catch..

I rate bobabit's drinks for 7/10. Some of the drinks are just to sweet for me. But I like the fact that they have unique drinks, such as creme brulee milk tea, cocoa hazelnut milk tea, coconut milk tea, just to name a few. It's very intriguing, makes you wanna try all types of drinks there..

The next thing I know, TENG was there as well. She was quite shocked when I semi-screamed her name. She was just getting off from work and we chatted for a bit. It's not long that she began to be 'mischievous'. When I returned to my table, she crawled and sprayed lots of anti-mosquitoes spray on to my feet. I was like 'what the hell is this thing spraying cold stuffs on my feet?'..

and she did it TWICE.. -_____-"

Beatrice Quarters and its Papillote

So yesterday, I was checking out this bubble tea cafe called bobabits in PIK. After not long sitting there, the master of hunger, Mr. Ivan asked me whether I wanna go to the restaurant next to this place to eat. After walking along the street filled with restaurants, I randomly went inside this restaurant called Beatrice Quarters. I never really noticed the place before. When I first stepped inside the open area, I was fascinated by the big door in front of me. It reminds me of a being in Alice's Wonderland. But this 'Wonderland' belongs to Beatrice..

Once inside, I couldn't help squeaking cause the place is JUST TOO CUTE! and this is coming out from a girl who's not the preppy or the pink lover type.

The menu is definitely VERY FRENCH.. Yessss, I didn't expect that it's gonna be a french cooking restaurant. Typically the restaurants there would only serve u with Italian, Western or Asian cooking.

and Yes, I'm a big fan of Laura Calder due to excessive hours of watching French Food at Home from AFC.
I just googled her, and was pretty disgusted and confused by what I found..

Why is the first thing that google wants me to know is Laura Calder's breast? That's just... er... okay, moving on!

So back to Beatrice Quarters.. I ordered the Dory Papillote because I remember Laura Calder happened to make one in the show. Papillote is basically a cooking technique where the food is put inside a closed folded pouch and baked inside the oven. They will have runny sauce which also happens to bake the food inside...
In French, Papillote means parchment..

Pictures of foods belowwww.. *be ready to drool* and err..  also, pictures of me and Ivan..

So many details. This is just one part of the wall, it doesn't look much. But it's really cute when u're there
 Mr.Piggy
We didn't even finish our drinks from bobabits and went to this place because Ivan was too hungry. The left one was ordered by him. It was a mango cheesecake blend. Turned out not so bad. Mine is rose tea with grass leaves. Disappointed cause all the bubbles were finished..
The table is filled with 3D decorations like these.. It's like you're using a frame as your table
 Mushroom Soup
Ivan's Poultry. Basically it was a roasted chicken, with mushrooms, rice, and some greens. The sauce is epic! It's mayo with touches of pesto (If I wasn't mistaken). It does taste really good!
This is my Dory Papillote. It was soooo fragant that I tore it quite barbarically. I was very satisfied cos this is what I picture of a healthy meal! Insides veggies are potatoes, carrots, leaves, lotssss of mushrooms (ME LOVE), and leaks.. The fish is pan-fried first before put inside the papillote. YUMMIEHHHH

Ivan always smiles when he's eating a delicious meal and I tell you, he's smiling the whole time we're there..

The prices are very reasonable. They also serve thick toasted breads with ice creams and other toppings. Their drinks are fruity and colorful, but we didn't get the chance to order one cause of our bobabits drinks..

Definitely gonna go back here. The cute place, the delicious meals, the fantasy atmosphere, they complete each other in a good way. I rate the restaurant 8,5 out of 10..

We sat on the second booth.. It's all purple and velvet-y.. Really reminds me of another version of Alice's Wonderland!

Visit their FB page.. They have pictures of the restaurant and you can really see how cute the place is..
